about us...

Annie's NurseryAt Annie’s Nursery we aim to provide a welcoming environment where each child is valued as an individual. We will provide a safe, hygienic, happy and stimulating environment where parents/carers feel confident that their child is cared for and secure. Each child will participate in a varied programme that is designed not only to meet their individual needs but to develop their confidence and personality. Through stimulating activities each child will experience work that is creative, interesting, educational and fun allowing them to build independence and thrive.

Communication between the nursery staff, children and parents/carers is crucial for a child’s happiness and wellbeing. At Annie’s Nursery we have an open door policy and encourage parents/carers to talk to staff daily about their child’s experiences.

Individual Learning Profile

Each child has an Individual Learning Profile (ILP) and this contains all aspects of your child's experiences at Annie's Nursery. Parents/carers are welcome to view their child's ILP at any time and to leave comments on the Parents/Carer Page.

Observing, Assessing and Reporting

We operate a "Connections System" at Annie's Nursery which allows all staff to interact and observe each child. All observations are recorded in each child's ILP. The Practitioners and Lead Practitioners are responsible for assessing each child's progress and setting "Next Steps". Each child receives a formal report in June and December which is written by either the Assistant Manager or Manager. Each child's report contains indepth evidence regarding each child's development and attainment. Parents/carers have the opportunity to comment on their child's report.

Connections

At Annie’s Nursery we have replaced our Key Worker with a new Connections System. After much consideration it was felt that a new system, Connections, should be introduced and the Key Worker system discontinued. Not only will the new system enable children, parents/carers and staff to be better connected but much more information can be observed, gathered and shared by the whole team.

All staff will now record observations on every child
All observations will be recorded, signed and dated in a central log
Practitioners and Lead Practitioners will regularly update each child’s Individual Learning Profile (ILP)
Practitioners and Lead Practitioners will oversee the information gathering and ensure that all children continue to be regularly observed formally and informally
Practitioners and Lead Practitioners will assess each child’s next steps
Practitioners and Lead Practitioners will write a formal report in June and December
The whole team will contribute to your child’s development record rather than your child being allocated one Key Worker.

Parents/Carers Individual Meetings

After receiving their child's report parents/carers are invited to attend an individual appointment with the Assistant Manager and Manager. This gives parents/carers the opportunity to discuss their child's report and development with the Managerment Team.

Open Evenings

These are held on the same evenings as the Parents/Carers Individual Meetings and allow the parents/carers to view their child's ILP, their work, wall displays, photographs and speak to the Practitioners and Support Workers.
