Outdoor
play

There is a large secure garden at the rear of the nursery. It faces south
with a field directly behind and a lovely view of Bennachie. The garden
has a swing and slide activity centre and lots of great outdoor toys for
the children. The children will spend a great deal of time outside, playing,
running, gardening, role playing and getting lots of fresh air and exercise.
Fruit
and vegetable patch
In our large garden the children will be growing their own fruit and vegetables.
It is not only a very fun and messy activity for them to do but it lets
them see where their food has come from. There is also a great sense of
achievement and as they say the proof is in the pudding.
Out
and About/Visitors
There is nothing better than experiencing the topic that you are studying
hands on. Depending on the nature of the topic it may be appropriate to
organise and plan in advance a trip in order to give the children the
opportunity to have that hands on experience. An information letter will
always be given to the parents/carers in advance and a consent form attached.
It
may be more appropriate that the nursery invites a visitor to come and
speak to the children on a particular topic. This also widens the learning
experience.

Curriculum
Each age group has a daily routine that the staff work to which allows
a variety of activities to happen at appropriate intervals during the
day. Each play room has it's own specially formulated routine to ensure
that each age group has as many learning opportunities as possible with
core elements such as registration, group time, outdoor/physical play
and planned activities.
There is a wonderful array of fun and educational activities. These are
planned by the nursery staff who take into account the age range, development
and interests of the children in the group. The nursery has a wide range
of resources and equipment to encourage and stimulate the children in
new and exciting experiences.

Pre-Birth

Our curriculum is in line with local and national Curricular Guidelines.
At Annies Nursery we follow the Pre-Birth to Three Supporting
Our Youngest Children guidelines. The guidelines set out the four
key features of effective practice in this age group:
Rights of the Child
Relationships
Responsive care
Respect
These are to be approached in a sensitive and respectful way and allow
nursery practitioners to interpret these guidelines and adapt them to
suit their own practice and to use them as a framework for their own curriculum.
